After completing her nurse training at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, in 1992, Lynda moved to London and specialised in coronary care management until 1999 when she worked within industry, promoting the use of evidence-based mechanical products, used for VTE thromboprophylaxis. In 2001, Lynda joined the Haematology department at Kings College Hospital and now leads a nursing team of seven Coagulation Nurse Specialists and a Coagulation Administrator. She provides leadership in the promotion and delivery of evidence-based nursing care for patients who are at risk of, or who have developed venous thromboembolism (VTE). This includes, playing a leading role in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of VTE, and in anticoagulation management. Lynda comments that recent academic study on 'Leadership' and 'Project Management' at Masters Level and past study on 'Evidence Based Care in Clinical Practice' has enhanced her knowledge base and skills needed to implement VTE risk assessment and thromboprophylaxis trust-wide.
